Gowri Panchangam (கௌரி பஞ்சாங்கம்) is a traditional Tamil method of identifying auspicious and inauspicious periods within a day. Named after Goddess Gowri (Parvati), it divides each day into 16 equal time windows — 8 during the day and 8 during the night.
Each window is assigned one of several quality names: Amridha (Best), Uthi / Labham / Dhanam (Good), Rogam / Soram / Visham (Avoid). The Nalla Neram (Good Time) combines the best slots for quick reference.

Gowri Panchangam divides each day into 16 equal slots — 8 day slots (sunrise to sunset) and 8 night slots (sunset to next sunrise). Each slot is assigned a name (Amridha, Uthi, Labham, Soram, Visham, Rogam, etc.) indicating its quality for performing activities.
Nalla Neram (Good Time) refers to the slots rated as Best (Amridha) or Good (Uthi, Labham, Sudham, Dhanam) in the Gowri cycle. These are ideal for starting auspicious activities, travel, and important decisions.
Amridha (அமிர்தம் — Nectar) is the most auspicious slot in the Gowri cycle. It is ideal for marriages, religious ceremonies, starting new businesses, and any highly important activity.
Rogam (illness), Soram (loss), and Visham (obstacles) are inauspicious slots. Avoid starting important activities, medical procedures, or major decisions during these periods.
